Meet Rukka, beloved therapy dog

Residents at Rolling Hills Care Center and Hunterdon Care Center are in love with Rukka!

Rukka is a specially trained Therapy Dog – mostly Border Collie/Australian Shepherd – whose love and dedication has endeared her to residents at the two Hunterdon County post-acute care centers.

“Rukka is very sensitive and intuitive to patients’ moods and feelings,” says Joni Lauyer, who serves as Director of Community Relations for the facilities. “She exudes an aura of calmness that is very reassuring.”

In addition to performing her pet therapy services, Rukka has been unanimously and enthusiastically endorsed as unofficial mascot at the Centers.
